Rectors Letter || September 2019 || If you could ask God?

Imagine you had the opportunity to stand before Almighty God and ask him a question, what would it be?

As I write this, the tragic news has just been released that the body of Nora Quoirin, (the missing girl in Malaysia), has just been found. Horrendous news that shocks us to our very core. Maybe your question would be, why Lord did you let that happen? Why do you allow suffering? That’s a question that is often posed, because so many suffer or at least so many people have some inkling that this life isn’t all there is. As the author of Ecclesiastes writes; He [God] has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end, (Eccl. 3:11).

Or possibly you would ask God about life, and if this life is all there is? Is it a case that we should “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”, (1 Cor. 15:32)?

We cannot promise that we can take you to the throne room of heaven to pose your question, but we can promise to help you listen to God’s response to these questions as we gather over 3 nights, (2 Sunday nights and one Wednesday evening), to look at: Suffering, Is this life all there is and whether all roads lead to God.

These have been questions raised by the community and the local churches would like to answer them for our community. Please come along, or better still please bring friends and family who might be raising these questions with you, so that they can hear God’s answer to these questions:

Sunday 8th September 7.30pm in Donaghcloney Elim for some food at 7.30pm. Answering the question, Why do bad things happen to good people?

Wednesday 11th September 7.30pm in Donaghcloney British Legion for some food at 7.30pm. Answering the question, Is this life all there is? Sunday 15th September 7.30pm in Donaghcloney Elim for some food at 7.30pm. Answering the question, If all roads lead to God, why bother with Jesus?

Now’s the opportunity to hear God’s answer to your question. We would love to see you there.

Yours in Christ
